New Believer
Have you just put your trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation or are considering doing so?
Here I’ll explain the basics. We’re going to keep it simple because that’s what God intends–to keep a simple yet sincere relationship with Him.
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?
(Micah 6:8) NKJV
Relationship is the key word as this is what it’s all about. Once you receive Christ, He says you are a new person:
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
(2 Corinthians 5:17) NKJV
There are many questions you may have about this gospel, like who Jesus is and what it all has to do with you. On this page is the direct answer to what the gospel is. See the future page Who is God and The Bible for more answers. You can purchase a nice, affordable Bible in the StG Bookstore.
For starters, it is imperative that you own a Bible. Digital access to one like online or through an app is good but if/when digital access isn’t available, then a printed copy is always handy.
What to read?
It’s a good idea to start with daily reading in the book of John to learn who Jesus is as the Son of God. Also, daily reading in the book of Psalms and Proverbs is great as you’ll learn the heart and wisdom of God. Small doses each day is best and write down questions to research from trusted sources.
Take a good look at your surroundings. Does it reflect or promote a godly environment for you to flourish in? Even though a new believer has a portion of the Holy Spirit in them, as a new believer you will be relatively vulnerable as you take your first steps. Do what you can to minimize temptations and negative influences in your life so you can maximize your success.
Your new life isn’t about yearning for perfection and sinlessness. That kind of life will drive others away and drive you mad (believe me, I made that mistake as a new believer). The more time you spend with Jesus in His Word (The Bible) and conversing with Him, the more you’ll become like Him and the interest in negative and sinful activities and thoughts will dissipate accordingly. It’s a walk–not a sprint. One day at a time.
Find a good body of believers to build Christian relationships with. You want to find a church that believes these solid scriptural tenements.
More content will be added soon but for now, you can view and download a free pdf of the gospel through a few concise scriptures in the book of Romans. You can use this to share the gospel with others by emailing it or putting a copy in your Bible or purse. Click the button below.
